I didn't know or realize that the humidor had to be calibrated and set up for some time. What can I do to keep my cigars from spoiling while the humidor is being prepped? How long will they last in just the box before drying out? These are Montecristo's so the last thing I want to do is ruin them.

Can you answer Greg W's question about humidors?:

I bought a premium cigar (Perdomo Lot 23 maduro) from a reputable cigar shop on a Wednesday and placed it in my humidor. When I lit 4 days later on Sunday it started cracking and the wrapper was coming off in very thin "flakes".
I was only able to smoke about half of it before it became too unpleasant and I abandoned it.
Is it too dry, too moist, or did I just get a bad cigar?

Can you answer waldorf's question about humidors?:

I have a small humidor that holds about 75-100 cigars (depending on size of cigars). I have a variety of cigars so I try to keep them separated from each other. However, the humidor is built with three shelves, each with one divider that can fit vertically, but not horizontally, which gives me only six sections. I have enough room for all my cigars, but not enough dividers.

What is the best material to use to keep the cigars apart from each other?
