Why do cigars crack and unwrap when they are smoked?

Can you answer Greg W's question about humidors?:

I bought a premium cigar (Perdomo Lot 23 maduro) from a reputable cigar shop on a Wednesday and placed it in my humidor. When I lit 4 days later on Sunday it started cracking and the wrapper was coming off in very thin "flakes".
I was only able to smoke about half of it before it became too unpleasant and I abandoned it.
Is it too dry, too moist, or did I just get a bad cigar?

Take it back or go back and tell them what happened. That should not happen especially when smoking a premium cigar. Unless it was not properly humidified! Which could be the fault of you or the store but If it wasn't your fault I would go back and tell them! Its sounds like it was dried out to me! Good Luck!
