What is the black thing in the humidor box? What should the hygrometer read? What if it's too humid or too dry in the box? Is there a way to adjust the humidity in the box?

im haveing trouble regulating the humidity in my humidor and now it seems to be having mold grow in it what can i do to clean it out and any advice on regulating it would be helpful.

I"ve got a high grade Humidor for my cigars which includes a state of the art digital gauge but no matter how little i soake my himidification media it's always over 70% and more in the 80's. Any Ideas?

Cigar Humidor Humidity

My hygrometer is reading about 77%, and I know it should be closer to 68-72%. I don't know how to make it lower though.

Travel Cigar Humidor

I have a cigar humidor i got about a week ago. I filled the humidifier and charged the hygrometer. I also left a glass full of water to evaporate and season the wood. I have left it in my room at room temperature and my cigars are drying out and it seems like the humidor does not hold humidity. What exactly do i need to do to keep it humidified?

My humidor has small container with florist foam which is soaked, but I still have to put a sponge in the humidor and I have not been able to get the humidity above 65%. I did season it by wiping it with a damp sponge. Any suggestions?

I see there is a hard "sponge" of sorts in a plactic case inside it. Do I immerse this in water? Must it be distilled water or will regular water do? How would I know if I put too much water in? What is the ideal humidity for keeping cigars?

my humidor hangs around 50% humidity. unfortunatly i forget to add water. why can't you just leave a cup of water in it instead of the sponge? will the cigars get too moist?
